A template? well, I draw directly on the surface of the inflated balloon.

I use some kind of "template" to draw, but it is not a "template" using the strict meaning of the word.

I start from scratch, drawing the sketch in the surface of the balloon with a very fine size point marker, then I draw the final contour (outline - line work) with a medium or thick size point marker and I finish with color markers.

That's the technique I use for drawing on balloons
